Many thanks to club vice president Paul Reiniger for aptly leading the club meetings while I was on vacation. But instead of a possible coup, Paul readily handed the reins back over to me. What a guy!! Alaska was FABULOUS, but now it’s back to business of helping our community one small step at a time.

Terry Hoefle and Wayne Schlosser did a magnificent job of organizing our August membership drive. Success doesn’t just happen. And with the club’s cooperation, we added Mike Harris, Johnna Revermann, Gary Boyer, Melanie Shadwick, Bret Schlosser (buy a big screen TV!), Bob Bruett, and Dave Hoffmann to our family of Rotary. And, it really is a family. Sometimes life can strike a cruel blow, but you can count on your fellow Rotarians to be their to be of service. We are here to help the community, but there is no higher calling for us than to be of service to a fellow Rotarian.

October will find us starting on the Wine Discovery & Camelot Auction, our largest fundraising event of the Rotary year. Again we will partner up for this extravaganza with the Fairview Heights Rotary Club. With each club member doing their part, we’re sure to even top what we did last year. Now that deserves a Woo Hoo!!!!

When I look about the room when leading the club meetings, I cannot help but be impressed by the caliber of people involved in our club. Thank you for all you do in putting SERVICE ABOVE SELF!
